Bee Seeing You Through the Veil

This is part 5 of a series: Heart Shaped Coffin, Opening the Stargate, The Journey Back Home, Purification, and Bee Seeing You Through the Veil. It's not necessary, but I imagine it would be less confusing if you've read the previous parts of this series before continuing on below.

The above mosaic is part of the ancient Tel Shiloh church, also known as the Church of the Ark because the ark of the covenant was kept there in a pre-Temple of Solomon enclosure until it was taken by the Philistines. It features a double-square with hexagonal star (symbol of the heart chakra) in the middle, near the wall (where the man in the blue hat is pointing), as well as an equal-armed templar cross (in front of the man in the white) and a shit load of vesica pisces. The whole section is contained in a cirlce that is contained by a square. The symbol of the Double-Square in the center of this image forms an Octagon and is found in many important areas of esoteric and religious symbolism. I mention double-cubes in relation to magickal altars and in relation to the Labyrinth in Pan's Labyrinth:
Prehistoric labyrinths are believed to have served either as traps for malevolent spirits or as defined paths for ritual dances. During Medieval times the labyrinth symbolized a hard path to the God with a clearly defined center (God) and one entrance (birth). [...] The labyrinth is located in the nave of the Cathedral. Aleister Crowley insisted that his student magicians construct their altars with two perfect cubes stacked atop one another, “symbolizing the Great Work... The height of the altar is equal to the height above the ground of the navel of the magician. The altar is connected with the Ark of the Covenant, Noah’s Ark, the nave (navis, a ship) of the Church, and many other symbols of antiquity.”
The nave of church is where labyrinth is located, which is a symbolic of (re-)birth, where, in antiquity, 7 male and 7 female virgins were "sacrificed" after doing the hobbling dance to the center. The hobbling dance represented the lame king, also known as the Fisher King, and his lame leg represented the failing virility/vitality of the king.

Another navel/navis connection is Navel Oranges, a variety of seedless oranges which contain "a partially formed undeveloped fruit like a conjoined twin." (Remember Philip K. Dick's twin-god cosmology? The Gnostic view that the evil demiurge (Yahweh) left the womb only partially developed, accounting for his insanity.) All navel oranges come from the first tree which produced this mutation, and are propagated through cuttings grafted onto other trees. Oranges are "Golden Apples" which grant immortality, what if that first tree was the Tree of Life in Eden? I previously mentioned there being 7 oranges tumbling down the stairs in The Ninth Gate. Oranges ("Golden Apples") show up in a number of movies, such as when Kevin Bacon's character craves orange juice after his third eye is pried open through hypnosis in Stir of Echos. Oranges have 10 sections, bringing to mind the double-pentagram of the apple cross-section from the previous posts. "Apples and Oranges" brings both items together in a slang term for opposites (duality, yin-yang, black and white, etc). Having no idea where to go with this post, I'll just follow a synch in a recent movie I watched, Merlin, a made-for-TV movie starring Sam Neil as Merlin. The movie follows the life of Merlin more than that of King Arthur and only barely mentions the quest for the Holy Grail. The opening credits for the movie shows Merlin riding towards the semi-mythical "island" of Avalon.
Where there are apples in myths there’s usually serpents or dragons. The Celts called Eve’s paradise Avalon, or Apple-land, the land across the western sea where heroes and gods fed on the apples of immortality. (Blue Apples)

Two thousand years ago, the sea washed right to the foot of the Tor, nearly encircling the cluster of hills. The sea was gradually succeeded by a vast lake. An old name for it is Ynys-witrin, the Island of Glass; "island" because, from most angles of approach, it would have looked like one, but it is from Celtic legend that the name Avalon has its true origin - named after the demi-god Avalloc or Avallach, who ruled the underworld. In Celtic lore Avalon was an isle of enchantment. Ancient myth has it that Avalon, where the sea met the land, was the meeting place of the dead; the point where they passed to another level of existence, and the Tor was the home of Gwyn ap Nudd, the Lord of the Underworld, and a place where the fairy folk lived.

(The description of Avalon sounds like "Limbo/Mobil Ave" from my "Purification" post. Limbo = Edge of Hell - My note)

In the beginning, when the legends of mystical Avalon began, Glastonbury, a small town in Somerset, cradled in a cluster of hills in the south of England, was thought to have been a site for pre-Christian worship.

For safe keeping, Joseph (of Arimethea. - My note) is said to have buried the Holy Grail just below the Tor at the entrance to the Underworld. Shortly after he had done this, a spring, now known as Chalice Well, flowed forth and the water that emerged brought eternal youth to whosoever would drink it.

Because of the large number of St.Michael and St.Mary churches situated upon the lines, these energy pathways have been dubbed the St.Michael and St.Mary lines. While the lines are of far greater antiquity than Christianity, it is not entirely inappropriate to have given them such Christian names. St.Michael, or more properly the Archangel Michael, is traditionally regarded as an angel of light, the revealer of mysteries and the guide to the other world. Frequently shown spearing dragons, St.Michael is widely recognized by scholars of mythology to be the Christian successor to pagan gods such as the Egyptian Thoth, the Greek Hermes, the Roman Mercury and the Celtic Bel. Blue Apples have also been connected to Blue Stones (notes/tones) in William Henry's work; as seen in deity carvings of an ancient goddess with a necklace of Blue Stones. The Blue Apples famously appear at Rennes Le Chateau which I mention in Opening the Stargate, where I connect grapes with the heart and the continuing theme of Sex & Death.

The Pommes Bleues, or Blue Apples, are apparently the blue circles made from the stained glass window in Rennes Le Chateau; the orbs appear around January 17 every year. The window depicts the scene of Jesus Raising Lazarus from the Dead (Horus raising Osiris/Asaur/El-Azar-us), and the blue orbs rest on the altar with its bas-relief of Mary Magdalene kneeling in prayer with a skull at her knees. (Somehow this is at least the third time I've mentioned Lazarus in this series, it's one of the main themes that keeps coming up, and like in school, if the teacher keeps talking about it - it's probably gonna be on the test!) Gnostic depictions of this scene famously depict Jesus using a magic wand to raise Lazarus who looks like a mummy, very much like his original form as Osiris, the mummified God/Green Man of the Underworld (who concieves Horus after he is brought back to life temporarily (Sex & Death)). The music of the Blues (blue notes/tones/stones) typically use the notes of the flattened third, fifth and seventh scales. Known as long notes or worried notes, blues notes create a feeling of, well, having the blues! For a synchromusikologists interpretation of Blues and the pentragrammic scale (there's that pentragram again!), see The Pentagramic Scale at the Kulide o sKope eye blog. But aside from that, "blue" stuff such as language and pictures usually refer to stuff you don't want your children to read, hear, or see; such as sex and profanity. Not to mention blue-balls of course: pent up sexual/creative energy. Here's some more on Blue Apples and Doves, from Blue Apples:
The doves of Nestor’s cup described by Homer in the Iliad are also thought to refer to the Pleiades. Fascinatingly, the Pleiades have also been likened to a bunch of grapes or Blue Apples. Ancient coins depict doves with bodies formed by bunches of grapes. The dove appeared in migration at the time of vintage, its purple-red breast like wine reminding the wine makers of their grapes. Suddenly, the story of Jesus’ “curing” Mary Magdalene, his chief apostle, of “possession” by “seven demons” takes on New meaning. These seven demons may well be the seven stars of the Pleiades. His “curing” would therefore represent him mystically attuning her soul or telling her stories about the seven stars (or Blue Apples) of the Pleiades.
Mary Magdalene symbolism is found all over Rennes Le Chateau, much of it doing with the number of her feast day, July 22. 7/22 is an approximation of pi and was used in the construction of many ancient sacred sites, and the ratio of 7:11 is found in the Great Pyramid. Connecting back to the previous posts discussion of The Cyclic Cross of Henday and it's Secrect of the Incas: the date for the End of the World, encoded into the cross, was decoded as September 22, 2002 (eerily close to Sept. 11th 2001). The "Sept" in September means 7, because it was the 7th month before January and February were added to the beginning of the calendar; thus this end-date might today be seen as July 22nd, Mary Magdalene's feast day. July 22nd: 22=BB/BeeBee, "2-B or not 2-B." The sting of getting shot by a BB-gun? A Bumble Bee? Speaking of Bumblebees, I had noticed that in Transformers, Shia LaBouf drives the Transformer called "Bumble Bee," and has Ebay username "LadiesMan217" (ladies-man = a drone for the Queen Bee?). 217 is the gematria value for the Hebrew name Deborah - which means Bee. Jan. 17 is the date of the appearence of the Blue Apples at Rennes, and Jan. 17th is the day that Nicholas Flamel first used the Philosopher's Stone (Elixer/Holy Grail).

if you draw an "M," for mary magdalene, using these statues in the rosslyn chapel floor-plan, the first letter of each of the 5 statues spell GRAAL, which means "grail."

Mary M. was called a whore by the church, though in recent history she has been cleared of those charges. I feel that the church had to symbolically call Mary a whore because it is such a big part of the Virgin-Whore-Goddess mythos. Mary the Virgin and (Mary the) Whore. Ok, I'm clearly going off-track, but let's see if I can swing back into the main story. Temple Priestesses were called Bee's/Melissae, as well as Temple Virgins and Temple Whores. Temple Virgins are only "virgins" because they are un-married. They have to have sex at least once to be a temple-virgin, and most would trade sex for temple donations, thus the Virgins were also Whores in a very literal sense. The below picture explains the origin of the "veild goddess" idea, before it was incorporated into Isis, it was part of the myth of Neith. (Neith/Net/Nit was mentioned in Journey Back Home because of her connection to the phallic-arrow symbol) And now we can more easily understand the connection to sex:

Andrew Gough ponders if the phrase "The birds and the bees" refers to sexual union "as something magical and sacred, something that needs to be learned by an initiate and which is unknown to a virgin," combining the symbolic Langage of the Birds with the mystery of the virgin priestess Bee. Which goes well with what I've been saying, that sexual symbolism goes hand-in-hand with the Mysteries, especially when concerning initiations.

Bees were discussed at the synchro forum previously as well, which included lots of connections to the Goddess meme, specifically concerning Beyonce ("Beeyonce") Knowles (pic). For much more on Bee/Goddess symbolism I turn to a large quote from the Alchemy Key:
However, the bee also had a very dark side. It remained a primary symbol of the Afro-Asiatic Triple Goddesses such as Demeter, Hecate, Persephone, Aphrodite and the pre-Indo-European aspect of Artemis. Arcadians worshipped both Artemis and Persephone under the name Despoina, which means mistress. Aphrodite, the nymph-goddess of midsummer, would destroy the sacred king by tearing out his sexual organs just as the queen-bee destroys the drone. Her Priestesses displayed a golden honeycomb at her shrine on Mount Eryx. Butes is the most famous beekeeper of antiquity. (Similar to the Bee-keeper Pan. The Bee was the symbol of Egypt, and Beekeeper was the title given to the Pharaoh. - My note) He was a priest to Athene on Mount Eryx who represented the love-god Phanes, son of the Triple Goddess. The Greeks often depicted Phanes as a loudly buzzing bee called Ericepaius. Incongruous with Aphrodite’s beauty, the Greeks also knew her as the Eldest of the Fates, Melaenis or black one, Scotia or dark one (the "Black Madonna" (Beeyonce). - My note), Androphonor or manslayer and Epitymbria, which means of the tombs. (Side note, Scotia was the Egyptian princess (Meritaten, firstborn daughter of Akhenaten) who fled to Ireland and lent her name to the people and land, Scots and Scotia, older terms for Irish and Ireland (also Nova Scotia). - My Note.) Artemis was an orgiastic Nymph like Aphrodite. She was the Maiden of the Silver Bow, which symbolized the new moon. Her male consort received the arrows of death. Besides the bow and bee, her other emblems were the date-palm signifying birth and the stag symbolizing her control of wild things. Artemis’ bees were the melissae priestesses who daubed their faces with gypsum or white clay in honour of the White Goddess. Artemis' chief priest was, as we may imagine, the king bee.

Removing the fertility of the old king disenfranchised him thus allowing the young king to rule. In Egypt Set castrated his brother Osiris, in Sumer, Kumarbi castrated Anu. In Greece, Zeus castrated his father Cronos and Homer writes of Cronos castrating his father Uranus. In Israelite myth Canaan, the son of Ham, castrated his grandfather Noah. The importance of castration is a sign that covenants were cut, not made (As in "cutting a deal." - My note.). The contracting parties severed an animal in two and walked between the pieces that this may happen to me when I break this covenant. This is why circumcision is reserved for a special promise. The separation of the foreskin cuts the covenant that appeases the Mother Goddess’ demand for the sacred marriage with its ritual castration, death and rebirth.

The Goddess demands every man’s phallus. Jewish women offered the foreskin as a substitute for their husband’s phallus. For example, the substitute sacrifice of circumcision even saved Moses: And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him [Moses], and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, a bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision. It is a custom observed by the British Royal Family who called upon the Rabbi Jacob Snowman, the respected Mohel of the London Jewish community, to perform the religious rite of Brit Milah with Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. This is also the Covenant of Circumcision. [...] The Bible provides other grand stories of the sacrifice myth. Moses died before Joshua received the fertile land of Israel. King David similarly died before Solomon brought prosperity to the land with the building of the Temple. In the same way, the wounded and impotent Fisher King of the Holy Grail finally passes to his rest before prosperity returns to his wasting land.
Well, getting back to the Blue Apples/Grapes:
Moses and the Israelites were enroute to the Promised Land. Yahweh ordered them to stop short and to send out some spies. One of Moses’ operatives, Joshua, an ancestor of Jesus, was called the “Son of Nun.” Along with a companion, Joshua was dispatched to the valley of Eschol (‘valley of the cluster’ as in grapes) where he stole a cluster of grapes from the sons of Anak who were living there. He returned the grapes to Moses. Nun and the cluster of grapes later became cryptograms that were extremely important to the Essenes, the priesthood of which Jesus was a member, and the Gnostic Grail heretics that they held sacred and secret. The cluster of grapes symbolized the secrets of creation, the secrets of manipulating the mother substance and the symbol for the Grail.

[At Chatres Cathedral], on the ‘Symbolic Window of the Redemption’ we see an identical pairing of the two thieves carrying the cluster of grapes beneath a green Cross. This window illustrates the medieval belief in the concordance of the two stories. Old Testament scenes are grouped together with the Passion of Jesus as if they happened at the same time. In the scene of his Passion, Jesus is shown carrying another ever green cross, symbolic of the life-giving power of the blood of Christ and a reference to the belief that the Cross was made of the wood of the Tree of Life from the Garden of Eden. Beneath him is the Old Testament prefiguration, the depiction of Joshua and a companion stealing a huge bunch of grapes upon a staff. According to Isidore of Seville, the grapes suspended on a pole symbolize Christ hanging on the cross, for he is the [Mystic] grape whose blood fills the Grail. In the following scenes on the Passion window, Jesus is crowned with green thorns, once again inviting us to conclude that his starry helmet or crown of thorns was made from the same material (or technology) as the Cross or Pillar. (Blue Apples)

The belief that the green Cross, and green Crown of Thorns came from the Tree of Life reminds me of the idea of the green jewel from Lucifer's crown having fallen to earth (see my post: New Age Ch.9 for more) and was eventually shaped into several objects including a spear (Spear of Destiny) and a chalice - the Holy Grail.
A little known fact is that de Troyes was unable to start [the first ever Grail Romance, Perceval, the Story of the Grail] until he travelled to Spain and studied with a Cabalist, leading scholars to conclude that the Cabala uniquely enables the understanding of esoteric subjects such as the Grail. Some years later, Wolfram von Eschenbach wrote the Grail Romance ‘Parzival’, and in his account we are told that the Grail is a stone from heaven.

This is interesting, given that the word ‘meteorite’ carries the same numeric value (443) as ‘Bethel’ - which translates as Bee in Egyptian. (andrew gough's arcadia)
Bee in Egyptian is Bit/Bet, leading to Bethel which translates to Beth=House and El=God/Lord, or the "House of the Lord" in Hebrew. This could refer to Heaven, from which meteors fall, or even a temple or shrine, symbolized as beehives in the past.
It is also interesting to note that the prophet Muhammad lived in Mecca, where a sacred stone from heaven is worshiped to this day - as it was in Delphi, where Bee Priestesses were consulted as seers. And [...] the most famous of all Grail Romances portrays the Grail as a stone from heaven. Might it also be related to the Bee? (andrew gough's arcadia)

scarab + bee from heaven befriends the cube(cross) symbol

The International Space Station, ISS (or Isis), was threatened by space debris earlier this year: "'It's a bit like a swarm of bees in a beehive up there,' said William Jeffs, a spokesperson at Nasa's Johnson Space Center in Houston, 'the trajectories can sometimes be erratic.'" By studying meteorites which have impacted ice on earth and resisted being blown apart or melted, scientists have learned that they consist of about 20% water (manna/dew from heaven?) and may be the source of all water on earth. Obviously water would be hard to come by in a volcanic proto-planet, so it seems all life on earth may have originated in space where all the nessesary elements including water exist. The Transformers movie contains the "AllSpark," a cubic device which has the ability to give life to things it comes in contact with. (watch Labyrinth of the Psychonaut video featuring the AllSpark) The AllSpark, also called the Matrix, is the Transformers afterlife/heaven: it is intelligent, it contains "all sparks" (souls) of everyone who will ever live, and is also a record of all knowledge and wisdom ever gathered by the individual sparks/souls.

Getting back to the floor mosaics at the Church of the Ark (or Tel Shiloh) we find that the borders are lined with clusters of grapes growing out of krator vases/jars. "Krator" is the name of the style of jar.

The grapes coming out of the Krator/Grail are also a pointer to immortality, and are called Blue Apples by William Henry who believes that the Blue Apples/Stones/Grapes indicate or represent ancient knowledge on the transmutation of elements and possibly ancient electrical or nuclear technology.
An answer for why the Blue Apples symbolize these secrets comes from Harold Bayley who made a massive study of the history of European paper manufacture. He also began collecting the earliest watermarks, which he published in his book The Secret Language of Symbolism. Bayley concluded that, after their persecution by the Church, the Cathars (French Gnostics) and other residents of the Languedoc region were among the earliest paper makers of the Middle Ages. Their watermarks, he says, are nearly all symbols of religious nature, the total comprising a secret language shared by those ‘in the know’. One of their most important marks was that of the Grail. Frequently it was shown as a vessel with a cluster of grapes or Blue Apples. (Blue Apples)
Expanding on the idea of krator jars and craters, Adam of the Inside the Cosmic Cube blog tells us:
In Neil Gaiman's "Stardust", protagonist Tristan (the name of one of the Knights of the Round Table) goes on a quest over the Wall into the Otherworld to retrieve a fallen star for the shallow girl he's smitten with. (The star is named Yvaine, possibly after one of the knights in Arthur's Round Table, and therefore representing a Grail Quest. - My note) In the magical country the star becomes a woman who turns out to be his true love. (This "fallen" star is noted in the movie to be the "Evening Star," which would make it the planet Venus/Lucifer. - My note) Naturally, as she's a fallen star, [Tristan] finds her in a Crater. At [Star Wars'] outset Luke Skywalker, the son of the fallen messiah Anakin Skywalker, lives in a hole in the ground. Not a Hobbity hole, but an open Crater. I think this is a pretty neat item of synchronicity if a Crater is a Grail and the Grail is the Holy Blood.
The thread at the synchro forum was spawned from old Aferrismoon post, X That Bridge, about the movie Starman which features and alien's journey to the crater in Arizona where he is taken up by a giant spaceship with a mirrored spherical surface. The spaceship (see link for larger pic) looks grail-like with it's ring of cosmic dust at it's equator and red beam of light as a stem or pillar beneath it.

In fact, before I realized it was a mirrored surface, I thought it was grail shaped due to the reflection of the earth in it's bottom half. The reflective surface of this grail/enlightenment resonator brings to mind the mirrored "Dragon Scroll" in Kung Fu Panda (which rests in a dragons mouth in the center of an Octagon), and the realization that the I/Eye in the Pyramid/Capstone/Cornerstone is "me, myself, and eye"; the answer to Number 6's question (6th Day God created Man), or Mankind's question in The Prisoner: "Who is Number 1?" Afterall, you "gotta look out for number one," who is yourself, and only your-Self can bring you enlightenment, or passage through the reflective veil into immortality. The Mystery schools gave initiates an experience of self-annihilation, thereby clearing their fear of death as they no longer cling to the fleeting nature of a mortal life. Once one acknowledges that, yes, "I'm mortal," they become "Immortal."

Georg Philip Friedrich von Hardenberg (Also known as Novalis, an 18th century author and philosopher) penned this riddle:

There was one who arrived there.
He lifted the veil of the goddess.
But what did he see?
Wonder above wonder,
he saw himself.

WE3Marys

Well I'm trying to work on a new post, but I keep getting distracted by the WE3M spinner of The Blob. Basically there was a noticeable connection between Jakes work and K2 (the mountain and the number, as in Y2K). K meaning thousand, so K2 equals 2000, like the roman numerals MM, also 2000. He then noticed that the letter W, as in WWW or WW3 (world war three) came up a lot, and that then connects the number 3, of a similar shape to these "coincidences." Basically it was just odd how these things seemed to all be connected. They are now called the "WE3 spinner" because the one shape, spun in any direction, seemed to be an indicator of something important. A while ago, I had noticed that the letter E/e is really emphasized in advertising (Crest, Enron, Dell, Intel, and so on), as well as the enigmatic E at delphi (pictured below). Another big one is the letter M which was important in early Christian iconography representing Mary. And there's the number 3; of course very important (trinity, three degrees of initiation, etc.). And W, with it's pitchfork/trident shape is also an ancient symbol. So, why do these symbols stick out, or are even emphasized on purpose? Well don't ask me! Though, I will try to investigate further below:

W-E-3-M, image stolen from The Blob
see this link for the original WE3 post

Another E3 type image is the Greek letter "xi," which if seen as Roman Numerals would be 11 and it's mirror 9. Hmm spekaing of E3, there's always the Electronics & Entertainment Expo, a 3-day showcase of cool new games and technologies. Sorry, I get distracted easily...

Greek letter xi

alternate xi, many M's and W's there!

There's always the enigmatic E of Delphi. It can also be seen behind Jesus in The Ordination by Nicolas Poussin:

Galactic Center Temple, Jake Kotze: "Soon after arriving in the prairies (May 2004) I began noticing and feeling drawn towards the Winnipeg Legislature Building. At the same time the local news services started talking about the research of Frank Albo. Frank - a Research Fellow at the University of Winnipeg and Third Degree Master Mason (MM/2000/2K) - noticed the two large Egyptian Sphinx flanking the entrance of the building and started asking questions. According to his research it turns out the building, situated near the geographic center of the North American continent, is a Masonic model of Solomon's Temple." (click the above link for more clarification on the building and its symbols)

Octagonal Star inside the building

playing with the WEM3 shapes
note the KK in the bottom pictures

Me, at this post - The constellation Scorpio is also symbolized by an Eagle and Phoenix. The eagle is the "higher" aspect of scorpio. Scorpio is shot through the heart by Saggitarius (cupid) and transforms into Aquilla, the eagle, who is seen upside down above Saggitarius clutching the constellation Saggita, the arrow. The eagle is also associated with the story of Zeus and the kidnapping and rape of Ganymede. This is important as the alignment with the center of the galaxy comes near the time where we are shifting from the age of Pieces to that of Aquarius, which is the constellation Zeus turned Ganymede into.

Pisces looking like 3E

Here's a pic I drew on a dry erase board showing the arrow of Saggitarius going through the heart of the Milky Way, and into the heart of Scorpio.

The Manitoba Winnipeg Legislature building houses the black octogram in an area called the Pool of the Black Star. The Black star or sun is the dark spot in the center of the Milky Way. Here is the Mayan glyph representing the Sole God, the Hunab-Ku, which has been associated with the god Hunab-Ku and the center of the Milky Way:

note that it is octagonal; it was originally a square shape

So the octogon and the galactic center have now been connected. The octogon is also related to the Great Pyramid of Egypt which has a slight octagonal shape. The pyramid was used for initiatory rituals culminating in a near-death experience (personal stargate) in the "kings chamber."

image stolen from The Blob

Also at the Winnipeg Legislature Building are these images of the "Ark" with an M carved in relief:

Winnipeg Legislature, image from The Blob

The M could stand for Manitoba, or Lady Manitoba (seen in a pediment sculpture on the building) or what is more likely to be the case: Mary Magdalane as some sort of Holy Grail, or Mary, the Mother of Jesus and his gemini resonating twin brother? Well, whatever it means, it's still interesting that it's in this highly symbolic Freemasonic architectual wonder.

Several Christian symbols use interwoven or overlapping letters to represent names or words relating to their beliefs. Here is a monogram for the Virgin Mary, which looks like a W and M, but it's really a A and M for "Auspice Maria." And the other monogram is a cross and an M with 12 stars around it, giving it astrological syncnificance.

On the bottom of the Miraculous Medal is the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the pierced Immaculate Heart of Mary. Here's a picture of a tarot card from The Blob as well as a picture of Mary with her peirced heart:

The Marys of the Bible even come in triplicate, adding to the connection of the shapes of the letter and number, M & 3.

3M's, at the crucifixion and resurrection. Important themes indeed.

Jake snapped this picture while taking a tour of the Winnipeg building, which shows a very synchnificant symbol of a heart, pierced by 8 lines:

Evolution of the The Union Jack octogram, Britain+Scotland+Ireland:

Wikipedia - According to legend, in 832 A.D. King Óengus (II) (or King Angus) led the Picts and Scots in battle against the Angles [...] King Angus and his men were surrounded and he prayed for deliverance. During the night Saint Andrew, who was martyred on a saltire cross, appeared to Angus and assured him of victory. On the following morning a white saltire against the background of a blue sky appeared to both sides. The Picts and Scots were heartened by this, but the Angles lost confidence and were defeated. This saltire design has been the Scottish flag ever since.

(The losing Angles had worshipped the earth goddess Nerthus.)

John Grigsby (2005) theorizes that the overthrowing of the Vanir religion by that of the Æsir is remembered in the Old English poem Beowulf, that Grendel's mother is derived from the lake-dwelling Nerthus, and that Beowulf's victory over her is symbolic of the ending of the Vanir cult in Denmark by the Odin-worshiping Danes.
If you saw the recent 3-D movie Beowolf, then you will remember that the serpentine mother of Grendel gave birth to Dragons.

From The Blob: "Beowulf attempts to slay the [dragon] by penetrating its heart with a sword. The heart is the center of the Galaxy's Dragon Axis or Milky Way. This mimics the Sagittarian arrow pointed at the heart of the Galaxy and the famous image for love, the pierced heart."

So the defeat of the Angles under the sign of Saint Andrew (Blue sky and white X) may be seen as a similar metephor as the banishing of the "snakes" of Ireland by Saint Patrick (white with red X), or the defeating of the "dragon" by Saint George (white with red cross). So, the triple-cross Union Jack symbolizes the banishment of earth worship (serpents/dragons) among the peasants/"pagans" by what some believe to be reptillian/Annunaki blood-lined Royal Overlords. (Stay tuned for a future post dealing with the mythology of these bloodlines.) It may also be seen as a sign of a New Age, as the coming of the Christian age is what inspired these Saints to "kill the serpents/dragons" or rid the land of serpent/earth worship. Interesting that the symbol of immortality - the snake which sheds it's skin - was banished by the Church who took over the job of saving souls, and kept the secret from the "pagan" masses. Tony Bushby in The Secret in the Bible makes the claim that the secret of iMMortality was hidden in the Bible, specifically the Torah; though hints are given in the New Testament.

Secrets of the Bible were brought back to Europe by the Templar Knights after digging under the Temple Mount at Jerusalem. William Sinclair/Saint Clair, founder of the now famous Rosslyn Chapel, has on his tomb is an 8-pointed wheel/star which is said to be a representation of the Holy Grail:

Mayan, Buddhist, and Sinclair-Grail symbol

The 8-pointed star or wheel, seen earlier in the Pool of the Black Star, is now connected not only to the Heart of the Milky Way, the Galactic Center, but to the Holy Grail. It is also the shape of the star which represents Ishtar/Estar/Ashtarte/Isis/Inanna/Mary, the mother Goddess of heaven and earth.

"Ishtar's beast was a lion. Her usual symbol was the star or star disc. She may also have been symbolized for a time by the rosette." - Black and Green, Gods, Demons and Symbols of Ancient Mesopotamia

Speaking of the Queen's Empire, there is a constellation associated with the Queen Cassiopeia:
"The boast of Cassiopeia was that both she and her daughter Andromeda were more beautiful than all the Nereids, the nymph-daughters of the sea god Nereus. This brought the wrath of Poseidon, ruling god of the sea. Poseidon decided to flood the whole country or direct the sea monster Cetus to destroy it. Cassiopeia consulted a wise oracle, who told [her] that the only way to appease the sea gods was to sacrifice their daughter. Andromeda was chained to a rock at the sea's edge and left there to helplessly await her fate at the hands of Cetus. But the hero Perseus arrived in time, saved Andromeda [with the severed head of Medusa]. - from my comments on Land of Wonder (Medusa's head is also seen at the Manitoba Winnipeg building. I believe that Medusa is connected to the moon, eclispes and the dark center of the Milky Way)
The Queens punishment was to be put in a chair in the sky and spend half the year upside down. The constellation of Cassiopeia is shaped like a giant W and can be used as a pointer to find the Northern or Pole Star.

Cassiopeia has also been known as the Celestial "W" and Celestial "M".
Another story says that for her bragging, Cassiopeia was chained to her throne and placed in the sky to circle the North Star. At times she is hanging upside down in a most undignified position as a warning to all.
The Romans called her the Woman of the Chair.
To the Arabs, she was the Lady in the Chair.

"Circa 3000 BCE, when the north pole star was Thuban in Draco the dragon, Casseopeia's used to circle around Draco, which was the Axis mundi, the axis of the world." The dragon has been connected to the 2012 event via the Draco-Axis which is where the pole of the Earth points over the 26,000 year precession of the equinox. See this post at the blob for more.

As the Woman of the Chair, this queen is connected to Isis, who is symbolized by the kings throne which she wears on her head. All thrones are a representation of the royal blood which is carried through the females of the bloodline. All kings are on the throne only because of their mother, and therefore the mother goddess Isis supports all kings as their throne.

Isis also represents the Mysteries through her triple veil which hides the secret of immortality.
A statue covered in a black veil was erected on the presumed tomb of Isis, close to Memphis/Giza. On the statue’s pedestal was engraved the following inscription:

"I am everything that was, everything that is, that will be and no mortal has yet dared to lift my veil."

Beneath this veil are hidden all the mysteries and the knowledge of the past ... Pulling back Isis' veil represents the revelation of the light, and to succeed in doing so is to become immortal.

The Holy Grail herself, the giver of eternal life, gift of Isis who is the basis for the Virgin Mary who gave us Jesus; through him we gain eternal life, or so it is said. The M on the "ark" at the Winnipeg Legislature building may hint at the M secreted into Da Vinci's Last Supper in the shape of "Mary" Magdalane" and Jesus; the missing Grail from the painting. The Holiest of Holies, the Ark, Symbolized by Mary and Mary.

The Pool of the Black Star at the Manitoba Building has 3 steps down into it, and the black 8-pointed star of the Goddess/Galactic Heart/The Grail in the center. The three steps may represent the three steps or degrees of initiation into the Mysteries (represented by the goddess), which culminates in a mock-death whereby the candidate (in the distant past) consumed psychoactive plant materials and was struck on the head three times with a gavel to induce an out-of-body experience. As with all near-death experiences, the person sees god as a light which connects all people to eachother, but more importantly they see that there is life after death - immortality of the soul.

Could the WTC disaster have been the symbolic dropping of the veil of ignorance through the destruction of the twin pillars holding up the veil? The same veil perhaps, which covered the holiest of holies, in Solomon’s temple? - Jake Kotze

Some think that the Grail is a royal blood line, dating back to Abraham (through Jesus) and continuing to the present day in the Royal Family of Britain. The British Royals use the Merovingian symbol of the fleur-de-lis:

In JewJewBees, I show how that symbol is also found, hidden slightly, in the Prince of Wales symbol of the Egyptian Triple Plumes or Feathers.

Prince William will turn 30 in 2012 which is the year that the 30th Olympiad will be held in Britain; a place which many believe are trying to represent themselves as a New Jerusalem or Zion. Whatever the case may be, it is also the year of the galactic center alignment coinciding with the complete precession of the zodiac, a rare moment in history if there ever was one.

The Medusa Touch - Part 4

Alright, well this is Part 4, the last part of the series, continued from Part 3. Up until now I've basically been concentrating on mythological figures who are similar to Medusa, and trying to convince you that the reason for the similarities is that they all represent a similar archytype, whether or not the Greeks were even aware of it when they were carving Medusa heads into the pediments of their temples. Solon, the Greek sage, went to Egypt to question the priests in Egypt about the past. One day, as Solon discussed the history of the first man known on earth and the last flood, a wise old priest replied to Solon:
Solon you Greeks are mentally like children Is there not an aged sage among you ? You all too young in spirit and have no ideas handed down from ancient traditions, no knowledge from ancient times. Many disasters have befallen humanity and many more will do so, the worst from water and fire, and the least by asteroids and meteorites, which spin around the sky and the earth.

Every time you (Greeks) or other nations start to write and gather together the first rudiments of civilization, the furies of the sky crash down on you. The only ones who escape are the illiterate and the ignorant. So you must relearn everything whilst forgetting your past completely!
Egypt had a fairly stable civilization for quite a while, and were still able to remember most of their past. As a result, they were aware of where their myths came from and what they originally meant. The Greeks, however, lived in a part of the world which was frequently overcome with war and cataclysm. Therefore the Greeks had no idea where their myths came from and focused on only the exoteric stories. As Medusaesque deities can be found around the world, I believe that they represent a real event, and later a more sublime symbol, recorded around the world as an anthropomorphized figure. There was almost certainly another more esoteric level of meaning attatched to whatever event this new figure now represented (which I touched on in Part 1). Then a third level of meaning, which was just the soap-opera acts of the gods, which is what the Greeks focused on.

So, if the Egyptians had the older religion compared to the Greeks, where is Medusa in Egypt? Well, probably split into several different deities, as their religion is older and more refined, with specialized gods and their specific aspects. The Greeks probably combined a few mythological figures into Medusa from memory. In Egypt, there's the snake headed goddess Kauket "who ruled over the darkness with her husband. Her name also meant darkness, as did her husband's name, but with a feminine ending." If the Egyptians weren't obsessed with duality, they may have combined Kek and Kauket into one he-she like Medusa and Tlaltecuhtli. She was called "the bringer of night." There may be some connection to Medusa from the Egyptan Mafdet, the "slayer of serpents." She is actually a feline goddess (as well as a mongoose) because cats, and leopards, killed snakes and scorpions. Her hair was braided to reflect the sectioned body of a scorpion, and the braids ended in scorpion tails. She also wore a headress of snakes. And incase that wasn't enough, there's even mention of her ripping out the hearts of wrong-doers. Now it may seem contradictory for me to try and connect a feline snake-killing goddess with Medusa if it wasn't for Medusa being represented with her own leopards in the Corfu Pediment.

There is the scorpion goddess, Serqet, who "could punish those with the poison of a scorpion or snake, causing breathlessness and death, or she could protect against the same venom. Yet just as she could kill, she was thought to give breath to the justified dead, helping them be reborn in the afterlife." This is similar to the blood taken from Medusa's left side which was a poison, and from the right side which could bring the dead back to life. And we have the cobra goddess Wadjet who took the form of a lioness. Moving on, there is the moon god (male) Khonsu, associated with knowledge and time; and as such often represented along with the ever present Thoth. Khonsu "appears in the well known 'Cannibal Hymn' (Utt. 173-4) as a bloodthirsty deity who assists the deceased king in catching and slaying those gods that the king 'feeds upon' in order to absorb their strength. Specifically, it refers to him as 'Khonsu who slew the lords, who strangles them for the King, and extracts for him what is in their bodies.' Though only mentioned once in the Pyramid Texts, he is also referred to in Spell 258 of the Coffin Texts, where he is 'Khonsu who lives on hearts'." Like Medusa with her wings, Khonsu, as a sky deity is sometimes shown with the head of a falcon, though differentiated from Horus by the crescent moon (similar to Kali) on his head. And finally there is Apep, the great serpent, the Destroyer; patron of evil and darkness. Apep is of course way more powerful than Medusa, but I still see a similarity as Apep attacks the sun boat of Ra, and when successful, the world would be plunged into total darkness - a solar eclipse.

I believe that Medusa represents the moon, but more specifically, the moon during an eclispe; along with whatever feelings that event must have aroused in early man, and the resulting spiritual symbolism encoded therein. I think that the way Mesusa or other figures were represented might give us some clues at to whether this is true or not. Going back to Aztec mythology, we have the moon goddess Coyolxauhqui (pictured above as a serpent). "She was a powerful magician and led her siblings in an attack on their mother, Coatlicue, because she became pregnant in a shameful way (by a ball of feathers). Coatlicue's fetus, Huitzilopochtli, sprang from her womb in full war armour and killed Coyolxauhqui, along with many of the brothers and sisters. He cut off her limbs, then tossed her head into the sky where it became the moon, so that his mother would be comforted in seeing her daughter in the sky every night." Medusa became pregnant in a shameful way (like Coatlicue)and was beheaded (like Coyolxauhqui). Coyolxauhqui lost her head which became the moon, and Medusa is basically just a head, which happens to be depicted in the same way as other solar/lunar deities. "A shield-shaped stone frieze reflecting this story was found at the base of the stairs on the Templo Mayor. In this frieze, Coyolxauhqui is shown spread out on her side, with her head, arms and legs chopped away from her body. ... Scholars also believe that the decapitation and destruction of Coyolxauhqui is reflected in the pattern of warrior ritual sacrifice. First, captive's hearts were cut out, then they were decapitated, their limbs chopped off, and finally their bodies were cast from the temple, to lie, perhaps, on the great Coyolxauhqui stone." Again we have the blood or heart sacrifice theme. Medusa was never appeased with bloody hearts, only decapitated, but as I've already stated, I think the mythology surrounding her may be incomplete due to the lack of historical knowledge by the Greeks.

Here is the stone frieze of Coyolxauhqui compared to the Corfu Pediment. Notice the limbs are in similar poses. I think that the "rotation" depicted by the arms and the legs represents a rotating disc in the sky, a wheel that is turning, similar to the swastica symbol as a symbol for the sun or the movement of the heavens.

The arms and legs appear to be rotating in opposite directions, possibly representing two different things (sun and moon?). Medusa and Coyolxauhqui are oddly reminicent of the female vampires of the Phillipines, those night-time bloodsuckers, the Visayan manananggal ("self-segmenters") who would detach their upper bodies and fly through the night looking for victims. Infact looking at the picture at the top of this page, it's hard not to see Medusa as a vampire, at least all her counterparts seem to have a blood lust. Perhaps there's some parallel with Lillith, the disgraced first wife of Adam, and original vampire/succubus? The Corfu Pediment is a depiction of Medusa already having been decapitated, while it might not look it, her children who sprang from her neck wound are seen with her - either an indication of her death, or a continuity error. There's the winged horse Pegasus (missing due to damage to the sculpture) and the boy Chrysaor "Golden Sword." Not wanting to get into the mythology of Medusa's offspring, but as a small sidetrack, perhaps the "golden sword" which sprang from Medusas severed head is the first ray of light which is seen when a solar eclipse is ending.

Keeping with the symbolism of the bent-limb, there is another more telling sculpture of Medusa (holding Pegasus), shown with 3 limbs bent in the same direction, and we can more clearly see her wings which remind us that she belongs up there.

The moon makes 12 and a third lunations, or lunar months, a year. It takes three years for the moon to make a complete number of lunations (37), and as a result the number three is associated with the moon. Also the "triple goddess" of the moon is a familiar theme, as the moon has three phases, the waxing, full and waning. Note that there were three Gorgons, and many times there are three witches in mythology (like the Graeae), and in books and movies. (The Graeae were known as the Stygian Witches, no wonder I like writing about their conterparts the Gorgons. The Graeae, like the Gorgons, had one eye and one tooth among them (thanks Adam*), and were the offspring of the "old man of the sea.") Notice in the pictures below, Medusa ringed with serpents, and the moon's cycle depicted as a serpent. Infact in the Medusa picture, the serpent splits the circle into two halves with Medusa's head in the center, possibly indicating a waxing, full, and waning motif.

Medusa can even be seen as the now extremely interesting Trinacria. The trinacria is an ancient symbol and name for Sicily; due apparently to the triangular shape of the island.

My art history teacher said that Medusa was depicted with bent limbs on the Corfu pediment because the artists couldn't fit her standing because she was too big. How this makes sense I don't know. If they wanted her to fit, they would have made her smaller. She is constantly depicted in the squatting-running fashion for a reason. Even if the artists were so inept as to not be able to fit her in the Corfu pediment, it doesn't explain why in other sculptures she remains in a bent-limb pose. No, there is some reason, possibly unknown even to the Greeks, that she had to be shown in that pose. The Aztec deities I've presented were also shown in bent-limb poses, but it was probably because of their connection to childbirth. Medusa, like the moon, is male and female. She is basically a head with a body later thought up for her to fill in the blanks of her mythology. Something about seeing her paralyzes people with fear - turns them to stone. People cannot look at her directly, as we are all told to avoid direct eye contact with an eclispe. But what of the serpents? Why always at least two snakes beside her head? Well, I think that they represent the serpent-path of the eclispe. The invisible path in the sky which swollows the sun every now and again (shown above as the lunation cycle), when Apep temporarily overcomes Ra's sun-boat. Medusa has a relationship with Poseiden as well, linking her to the chaotic waters out of which, in some versions, her children are born from her blood falling into the water.

Apep, "water snake-demon of chaos," was a demon of the underworld, in the form of a giant water snake. It was believed that he was created when Nit spat into the primeval waters of Nun. He was the enemy of the sun god, trying to stop him as he travelled on his barque through the underworld each night. He was so powerful that little could defeat him, and even then, he was back again the following evening to threaten Ra. He was a demon outside of ma'at, the opposite of order, a demon of darkness and chaos.

Apep was never worshiped, but the ancient Egyptians protected themselves against him - he was a threat not only against people and the gods, but against ma'at and creation itself. As a demon of the unknown and related to frightening events such as unexplained darkness (solar eclipses were interpreted as a victory of Apep over Ra as he swallowed the solar barque), rituals were followed to ensure he could do no harm. In this, he was linked to Set, who also had eclipses, thunderstorms and earthquakes attributed to him.

The eight pages of the Moon table of the Dresden Codex are a chain of numbers across the bottom line of each page translates into a time packet of lunar synodic intervals. There are clumpings of six lunar synodic months (178 days) followed by one set of five (148 days). Each bunch of five moons is followed by a picture. A close look at all of the pictures together gives very strong clues about what the Mayas would do, parcel out a chain of 405 full moons over more than three decades. The answer is that Mayan astronomers were attempting, apparently quite successfully, to predict eclipses. Some of these illustrations depict half-light, half-dark disks with lunar crescents opposing the kin glyph, symbol of the Sun ( kin means sun and day as well as time in the Mayan language). A serpent devouring the Sun and a dead lunar goddess hanging by her hair from a segmented serpent who represents the sky also appear in the pictorial portion of the table.
Stonehenge is quite the famous astronomical clock:
Every year on the first day of summer, the Sun rises at a point that is farther north than on any other day of the year. At the ruins of Stonehenge in England, this solstice sunrise appears on the horizon in direct alignment with the massive heel stone. This is the most outstanding feature of this ancient monument, built during the same era as the Great Pyramid of Egypt. There is little doubt that the builders of Stonehenge used it to mark this special day as the beginning of each year. By counting the number of days between these annual alignments, they could determine the length of the year. This could serve as a practical calendar to mark holidays and seasonal festivals and to ensure the timely planting and harvesting of crops.

But to predict eclipses, knowledge of two other cycles is required. One of these -- the length of the lunar month -- is easily determined. It is simply the number of days between one full Moon and the next. This cycle of 29-1/2 days is marked at Stonehenge by two rings of 29 and 30 holes, which together average 29-1/2. The other cycle, however, is of an altogether different character: it is a cycle of rotation of two invisible points in space (the two serpents always beside Medusa?). The evidence shows that the builders of Stonehenge probably discovered this cycle and could have used it to predict eclipses.

British antiquarian Dr. William Stukeley, who in 1740 was the first to note the summer solstice alignment at Stonehenge, advanced the notion that the monument was built by Druids to worship the serpent. He claimed that Stonehenge and similar stone circles had been serpent temples, which he called "Dracontia." Could this serpent symbolism be related to eclipses? Recall that the key to eclipses is the position of the lunar nodes. The length of time for the Moon to return to a node (about 27.2 days) astronomers call the draconic month. (Draco is the Latin word for "serpent" or "dragon.) Perhaps the mythical serpents of Stonehenge and the legendary dragon that eats the Sun are symbols of the same thing: the invisible presence in time and space that eclipses the Sun and the Moon.

This is, I believe, the first attribute which can be associated with Medusa - the frightening aspect of the moon during an eclipse. However once everyone was quite aware of the possibility of an eclipe it woud have become less worysome. It was then they higher ideas could be fitted to the already existing symbolism. To the Greeks, Medusa-Eclispe was probably just a boogyman bedtime story for all we know. Clearly the other figures with their blood lusts and connection to death would have been representations of the unkown, death, and nightime (relating to vampiric activity perhaps). And maybe it's because I've been reading about alchemy lately, but I think there is some important idea behind the power of Medusa to turn a person into Stone. First of all, this is quite reminicent of Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of Salt when she looked at Gods destruction of Soddom and Gommorrah.
Genesis 19:23
"The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. (24) Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; (25) And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. (26) But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."

Luke 17:28-33
"Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; (29) But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. (30) Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. (31) In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. (32) Remember Lot's wife. (33)Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it."
To look upon it would instantly change you into Stone or Salt, similar to Midas and his touch, as I've said in Part 1 of this series. I'm being reminded also of that old Batman episode (the series with Adam West), where one of the arch-villans (the Joker or Penguin?) invents a gun which vaporizes all the water in a persons body, reducing them to a small pile of salt. Interestingly this device is in the most recent Batman movie where the Scarecrow uses it to vaporize Gotham's waer supply to activate his hallucinogenic chemical.

The first phase of alchemy is called Nigredo, the Black Phase, and is represented as Philospher's Lead, a Black Dragon, or Black Crows. In Alchemy, Salt is the body, Sulfur the soul and Mercury the spirit. These three substances make up the Three Essential of all things. A substance is reduced to it's salt during the first process of alchemy - Calcination. Salt is represented by a cube, and this stage is depicted by a skull (as are many of the Medusaesqe deities revealed in the previous parts of this series). Salt is the beginning and end of alchemy. It represents the imperfect matter which is then dissolved and refined until it's essences are reconstituted in a more perfect form at the end. Salt is seen as the child of the alchemical marriage between the King (Sulfur) and Queen (Mercury), the Sun and the Moon.

Medusa represents an initial transformative power which if not controlled will leave us as a lifeless as a stone - a pillar of Salt without the firey soul of Sulfur, or animating spirit of Mercury. Perseus, the heroic slayer of Medusa was aided on his quest by Athena (Goddess of heroic endeavour), Hermes (Mercury), and Hades (Sulfur).
