"Da Vinci Code 2" as some call it,
Angels and Demons centers around an apparent Illuminati plot to exact revenge on the Vatican for it's persecution of scientists back-in-the-day, some of whom are described as potential Illuminati members. Suprisingly, shortly after the movie begins, we are whisked away to CERN where the LHC is being fired up in order to collect relatively large amounts of anti-matter as part of an energy experiment.
Go Green and stop burning hydrocarbons! - A not-unexpected subtle message, not that anti-matter, or any such alternative, will ever be used as an energy source in a world of planned obsolscence and stagnated technology.
4th and final Futurama film
about a new green ageOne of the monitors in the control room shows the ever present
octagon, and quick mention is made of the Atlas particle detector. "Atlas," or "At Last"? I'm currently reading
Atlas Shrugged coincidentally. Reading "a-t-l-a-s" right-to-left from the first "A," we get: "A Salt." Alchemically, Salt is the material body of a substance, with Sulfur and Merucry as Soul and Spirit, respectively. And this is part of the movies dichotomy theme, "science vs religion," "matter vs anti-matter," "salt(body) vs soul+spirit."
There is, I'm sure, loads and loads of stuff in the movie that could be discussed at length, but I just saw it and quickly scratched out a couple of notes to write about, so I'll just be concentrating on themes pertinent in this blog.
The assasin working for the "Illuminati plot" burns/brands the word of one of the four elements into the chest of each of the "four pillars" or four favored bishops to succeed the throne of the Pope, using ancient Illuminati brands which are written as ambigrams - words which look the same upside down. They go "in order" of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
The first bishop was suffocated with dirt in his throat, the second had his lungs punctured, the third was burned alive and the fourth was drowned. Of course, the fourth was saved at the last second, and went on to become the new pope by the end of the movie. The new pope was almost drowned to death in the Fountain of Four Rivers (
picture). Four rivers signals the four cardinal directions but also the previous 4 elements combined. The fountain is a water-door stargate stand-in, and lets not forget the synchnifigance of four rivers covered in
this picture. The
fountain is a waterdoor, and parallels other water-door stargates such as those Rachel Weisz is often sound soaking in, usually in a
romantic entanglement:
This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, but the new Pope for the Age of Aquarius is being symbolized by water. (As it is Aquarius/
Ganymede, I almost went with another anagram of "Angels and Demons": "God Sends Anal Men") The new Pope assumes the name of
Luke (Lucus/Luc/Light/
Illumination). From

"Look! When you enter into the city a man carrying an earthenware vessel of water will meet you. Follow him into the house into which he enters.
The number 22 was on my mind after the movie, though I cannot remember why. I did notice that when I looked at my radio in my car afterwards, the CD was on song #2, at 2:22 minutes into it. The number 22 is related to Mary Magdalane and is found all over Rosslyn chapel. Oh yeah, the lead female character, the one working to collect anti-matter, is named Vittoria Vetra. V=22 in the english alphabet, so
V.V. = 2222 (2+2+2+2=
8). So, both female leads in these movies (Da Vinci & Angels) are related to Mary Magdalane in some way; coincidence or subtle hint? V is 6 in Hebrew, so she would be VV/66, but also the Volkswagon car used by the assasin would be 666 for the 3 V's in the logo.
If the movie is set in present day, than the dead pope at the beginning would be the current pope, ex-nazi and Emperor Palpatine look-alike contest winner, Joseph Ratzinger, a.k.a: Benedict XVI. I began my
New Religion for a New Age series with a investigation into St. Malachy's prophecy of the last pope. Part of the discussion reviewed the crossed keys of the Vatican symbol, the gold and silver keys representing the sun and the moon (or the Red and White Stone/Elixer of Alchemy, or the Dry and Wet path of Alchemy, and/or Sol and Luna - the Alchemical marriage.) The keys are also a symbol for the 2-headed god Janus/Eannus. The keys are used as the last brand, and mark the 2-faced priest in the Vatican who has secretly orchistrated the "Illuminati" plot. This was a clue to me that the guy was hiding something; this brand, and somewhat his speech before the conclave. Additionally, since he branded himself, the keys wound up up-side down, which Robert Langdon and the priest note might be related symbolism to St. Peter who was crucified up-side down. Interesting then that St. Peters feast day was traditionally celebrated on the day when the sun entered
Aquarius; previously the day when
Janus/Eannus was honored. Kush/
Hermes was known as Ptr-Roma,
Peter the Roman, of the St.Malachy prophecy; the "last pope" after the current one - Benedict XVI. (From
They Cast No Shadows). Coming off my last post which mentioned the androgynous nature of Hermes, in
Angels and Demons, Robert Langdon points out a series of emasculated statues who a previous pope had their penises removed to be later covered over with fig leaves. Also fitting into this theme, slightly, is the impotent god/king, the Fisher King, who is "lame" in one leg (that is - his "man-leg"); a symbol of physical impotence or lack of power. The pope is shown to have worn the Fisher Ring, as he takes after Jesus as a Fisher of Men. It's like someone made this movie just for my blog! I mean the whole thing fit nicely into topics I've been covering recently.
The big symbols in this movie were the 4 elements, the crossed keys, and the pentagram. In
The Da Vinci Code, the pentagram was called a goddess symbol and was related to Mary Magdalane via the star pattern on the ceiling in Rosslyn Chapel. In
Angels and Demons, not much mention is made of why the pentagram is important, while at the same time it is everywhere, and implied by the fact that there are 5 brands consisting of 4 elements and the keys. The image of Man's dimenstions being compared to a
pentagram (top-right of below image) is seen in the movie in one of the churches.
The pentagram is often used to symbolize the 5 elements, which includes the typical 4 (earth/air/fire/water) plus Spirit as the fifth element. Note in the below image, the Spirit element is symbolized by the 8-rayed star or 8-spoke wheel, a symbol which was covered in
The Journey Back Home.
The suggestion is that the crossed keys of the Vatican symbol represents the 5th element. If you consider that the Philosophers' Stone/Elixer comes in two flavors, it really makes perfect sense. The Red Stone and Dry Way, representing Sol/Sun/Gold, and the White Stone and Wet Way, representing Luna/Moon/Silver. The Gold and Silver make up one key each in the symbol:

Donnie Darko, Southland Tales, and S.Darko, so I guess it's not so surprising that they all deal with the end of the world being caused by a rip in the 4th dimension. In

lost in space-timeTheories abound that in or around 2012 our plane of existence will merge with the 4th Dimension (somehow?) and then soon after into the 5th. Perhaps it's only our consciousness that's supposed to make the leap? The
fourth dimension is usually called "time," though time is connected to space in
space-time and we already exist in it. So the 4th dimension they're all talking about would be the 4th spatial dimension, like if you could move in a direction other than up, down, left, right, backward and forward.

having 2 cross-beams, it's a double-cross addresses concerns that CERN will destroy existence through its creation of microscopic blackholes and anti-matter. Perhaps CERN is what will cause our plane of existence to merge with other dimensions? When the anti-matter "bomb" explodes, it creates a flash of light and a shockwave ending with a luminous patch of sky and burning clouds. The explosion occurs because when matter and anti-matter touch they annihilate eachother and become pure energy. It is said that the ultimate goal of human evolution is to become pure energy. The boy in
Powder becomes pure energy in an explosion at the end of that movie. In
Futurama, Leela's friends try hooking her up with a being of pure energy. Is that what it means to "merge with the 4th or 5th dimension?" The Alchemical Marriage of Matter and Anti-Matter, Sol and Luna, Gold and Silver, Angel and Demon, resulting in the creation of something new which surpasses the
parents. According to Jung the alchemical marriage, conjunction/coniunctio, and its result, the archetypal child, “restores the vanished ‘
man of light’”
In
Angels, Robert Langdon visits the Vatican library to look for clues in some books. First he looks in section X (Roman numeral for 10), then later in III (3). I'll have to wait to see it again to make sure (anyone else remember?), but I'm pretty sure it was 10 and 3, which combine into
13. In the new
Star Trek movie (don't worry, no spoilers) there are black holes created by "Red Matter" allowing movement through space-time (4th Dimensionally?). At one point the movie moves to "3 years later," like the infamous black screens in television's
LOST which constantly jumps 30 and 3 years. One part of the ship is labeled M113 (M=13 as well). In the movie
The Fisher King, a movie I just watched, with a title relating directly to the Pope's "Fisherman's Ring," a doctor describes Robin Williams' catatonic state as potentially lasting 13 months or 13 years. Where am I going with all this? Beats me. Also in
The Fisher King is a building numbered
330, and even building number
101 which was used as the Clamp Tower in the movie
Gremlins. A gremlin appears in William Shatner's (aka: James T. Kirk's) famous cameo in the
Twilight Zone as
"something on the wing" of his plane. As usual the universe conspires to help finish my blog post when I'm reminded of a picture I made (well, copy & pasted) of the Pope's casket and the Freemasonic coffin of the
Third degree tracing board.
The Pope's casket is carried by
13 pall-bearers. In the
3rd Degree ritual, the initiate is (lightly) hit on the head with a mallet (seen in lower right of tracing board) to symbolize the death of Hiram Abiff and the ritualistic death and rebirth ceremony that may have it's roots in the Kings Chamber (with it's stone coffin) inside the Great Pyramid. When the pope dies, he is also hit on the head
three times to ensure that he is really deceased; this is done with the hammer pictured above. The Fisher King is dead, long live the Fisher King!
