Before the weather warmed up here, I was relaxing in my hot-tub looking at the stars when a picture started to form, one with a story already attached. I was thinking about the White Rabbit constellations, Lepus, and how it was used as the vanishing point for the Heaven's Gate logo (which I mentioned in an old post, but the picture is down now, I'll have to go back and upload all my old pictures to my new photbucket account, damn!) So anyways, there's the rabbit under Orion/Osiris. Osiris is the male-god-symbol; the phallus, world pillar, and world tree/axis munde. He even became a tree and a pillar when his coffin floated to Syria and got stuck in a growing tree which was cut down and used as a pillar. So naturally, I started thinking about Alice in Wonderland, well that's how my mind works anyways! I figured that Alice could be the blue star Sirius, which is right next to the tree where Alice fell asleep and saw the white rabbit.
I also thought that the constellations Cetus and Taurus formed a ladder of stars to the "Tree" which was outlined by the stars which I show in the drawing above. And the ladder goes right to the Pleiades which reminded me of the giant grapes in the Nicolas Poussin paiting of the Promised Land which Moses sent scouts into.
So it got me thinking if more characters from Alice in Wonderland could be found in the stars. There's Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, or Gemini. Casseopia the vain Queen who is upside down half the year due to her proximity to the pole, which brings to mind a scene in the animated Alice movie where the queen flips over and reveals her playing-card themed undergarments. The Cheshire Cat whose eerie floating grin might be a crescent moon. Alice's cat Dinah who might be Leo, on the far left, who Alice left behind when she went into the rabbit hole. And the rabbit hole could be Cetus, the whale which swallowed Jonah. The hookah smoking caterpillar which becomes a butterfly might be scorpio, though not seen in the same part of the sky. Perhaps there's more characters up there, but it's been ages since I've seen the cartoon and I've never read the book, so all I got is youtube videos set to "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane to go on.
When Alice was wishing she was smaller to fit through the tiny door she describes shrinking as "shutting up like a telescope," which is mentioned at least three times in the first chapter. Could Alice through the looking glass be Sirius through the telescope?
Anyways, this is the kind of stuff I wonder about when looking at the stars.

symbolic post makes me feel like alice- the other night I was getting water from our well and a big white rabbit came out of no where and hopped around me, It was odd, this well is also set up next to a shivalingam that was left on the property by krishnas who previously lived here, another sync is that my dj name used to be siriusB ,just a ramble, check my new blog that is a reflection
That is really awesome. You could read both Alice books in an afternoon, and you really should, just for the astronomical correspondences alone (not to mention their status as legitimate classics). Plus they are free and just a click away. Think of it as a homework assignment you give yourself.
Jonah is Hebrew for Dove and Dove = Columba , so perhaps that Jona/Whale stuff may prove accurate
